Canucks in the summer

What do the Canucks do in the summer? According to the final five entries in the Canucks In The Summer deviantArt contest, they hit the links, sell lemonade, play volleyball and so much more.

Below are the final five entries, in random order, as voted by the members of the #VancouverCanucks page on deviantArt. To vote for your favourite and help determine the winner, go to Canucks.com and select the name that matches the photo below in the poll on the homepage. The winning piece of art earns its creator a team-signed Canucks stick and a spot in the Fort Nucks Art Hall Of Fame.

*Note - The winning entry was originally set to be chosen by a secret panel of Canucks Employee Judges, including myself, but since I wouldn’t know art if it hit me in the face, I’ll leave it up to you, loyal Canucks fans everywhere. Thanks for your help.

Kanye West said it best: How could you be so artless?

Let’s remedy that.

Zack Kassian, Samuel Pahlsson and Marc-Andre Gragnani have all been members of the Vancouver Canucks for a few weeks now, so it’s time we showed the new guys some love. I can’t think of a better way to do that than a good ol’ fashion art contest.

Taking part is easy. Follow these steps.

1. Sign up for a free deviantArt account, then join #VancouverCanucks page on deviantArt.

2. Create a fabulous work of art that fits into either cartoons and comics, digital art, drawings, paintings, or others, and submit it to the #VancouverCanucks page (click gallery, go into the contest folder titled: Contest – The New Guys, then click submit).

3. That’s it. (Contest is open to new and existing members)

The contest begins today, March 15th, at 9 a.m. and runs until March 30th at 9 a.m. Members of the #VancouverCanucks page on deviantArt will then vote for their favourites for each player, with the top three pieces of art for each player making the final (nine pieces of art in total). The final pieces of art will be taken directly to Kassian, Pahlsson and Gragnani in the Canucks dressing room, and they will choose the best of the best.

The three winners will not only be enshrined in the Fort Nucks Art Hall of Fame (FNAHF for short) that I just invented right now, they’ll also receive an exclusive prize from Canucks.com. Each winner gets an autographed puck from the player they arted – yes, I know that’s not a word, but focus, there are cool prizes up for grabs!

Deviant Canucks

You create a cool piece of Canucks art and want to share it with the world. How exactly do you do that?

The answer is deviantArt and specifically the #VancouverCanucks page on deviantArt.

For those out of the loop, like myself, deviantArt is an online community of user-made art and it’s not just guys like me drawing stick men in MS Paint, there are some incredible things to be found from some incredibly skilled people. Take a tour, it’s free after all.

If you want to join the #VancouverCanucks page on deviantArt it’s quite simple, just go here and read the FAQs on how to join on the right hand side. There are currently 84 members (the most of any NHL group on deviantArt) able to submit their Canucks themed art, from cartoons and comics, digital art and drawings, to literature, paintings, photography, snapshots and anything else, so long as it’s related to the Vancouver Canucks.

But wait, there’s more!

The group also runs contests to feature the best of the best and I’m not sure if there is actual prizing for this, but there will be after we send the group some swag to give out. The group members vote on the winners; below are the three winners from the last contest run, themed Your Favourite Current Canuck.
